Rebecca Rodd
Rebecca received her Bachelor’s degree in English from (the illustrious) Spelman College and holds a Master’s degree in Library Science from CUNY Queens College. Before joining the agency in 2020, she was a Library Information Supervisor at Brooklyn Public Library, where she specialized in children’s literature and programming.
In adult and YA, Rebecca’s interests cover a wide range of genres, but most of all, she is interested in grounded, speculative stories, page-turning contemporary romance, non-linear storytelling, and elevated writing across the board. She loves to get wrapped up in a fresh and gripping premise, built out with thoughtful, multi-dimensional characters and strong voices. And while she will always argue that “the book was better,” she is intrigued by stories she can imagine watching on the big screen, or preferably, on the small screen from the comfort of her couch.
In children’s books, Rebecca’s looking for illustrated picture books with humor or heart that would work well for story time and middle-grade fiction that discusses big life moments.
In the non-fiction space, Rebecca is interested in millennial experiences and perspectives, especially ones that challenge societal norms, or that feel fresh and from underrepresented voices. She’s also interested in food, pop culture, psychology, and social commentary with hints of humor.
Rebecca’s current wishlist includes (but not limited to):
- Anything set on an HBCU campus
- A devourable romcom or straightforward romance with elevated writing
- Grounded, speculative fiction
- Fiction meets Food Network
- Books about Hawai’i written by native Hawaiians
Clients include Arushi Avachat, Paige Classey, Dr. Maytal Eyal, Dr. Akili Hinson, Lynae Vanee, and more.
